Valentine’s day again!
A day so small for such a complex feeling.
I ‘ve never thought much of that day! I think it was because all my friends didn’t approve it. It was too “pop and mainstream” for us.
However, we all felt kind of a heartbeat down inside and maybe prayed for a gift. My friends and I always got secretly prepared that day for any “occasion”! We’d buy some kind of present for our boyfriend, just in case he’d show up with a flower or something!!!
Leaving behind those old memories, landing to today, I have to confess! I still remember the first ever Valentine gift. Still have it somewhere!
It was a compilation LP with that year’s pop songs. I played it over over again, like a million times!
So since then, that day is only MUSIC for me!
For some stupid reason I thought the day was named after Rudolph. Most of my mom’s friends thought of him as the “absolute man”. I’ve never understood why!!! Never really thought of him as handsome!
Anyway! Back to Love!
Love! Such a strange feeling, sometimes provoking mad reactions! Brake hearts sometimes! The illustrations with this small heart, hurt by Eros’ arrow, feels so…normal!!
- Fullfill but empty hearts instantly
- Hurts but also heals
- Smiles but also sheds tears
- Is eternal but and…temporary
- Is affectionate and hateful
The list is endless!
So, many people have talked about love. We all do, every single day, wether we understand it or not. It’s the essence of our existance, even if we don’t realize it.
If you ask me, every living person lives in fears. Mostly in the fear of death. Well guess what! Loves can make all those fears disappear or look small and “hazard-less”.
I could talk and talk for hours, but it’s time you listen to something more enjoyable than my “thoughts”.
Etta James puts it right!
At last my love has come along
My lonely days are over and life is like a song, oh yeah
At last the skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up clover the night I looked at you
I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill I’ve never known, oh yeah
You smiled, you smiled oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in Heaven
For you are mine at last
Nothing to add!
This year I’ ll make my own music compilation for Valentines day.
Either you’re in love or not you’ll all be able to enjoy it. Hopefully, it will ring happy bells for you.
To be honest, my husband Fotis mostly curated this compilation. I added some songs the last minute and now we have 18 of them for our “18 Valentines” together!
Not all of them were great but they’re all of them OURS!
Whichever kind of love you celebrate this year…
- the one alive and kicking
- the one that turned into affection
- the one that makes you cry or
- the one that makes you eat and get fat
those songs come “handy”!
As you’ll see, this selection isn’t curated in the sense of the absolut song matching. It’s curated to remind us the years that passed together with the feelings of love we experienced.
The compilation is name after this post: “18 Valentines“. Enjoy it along with the rest of my albums.
If you don’t have an account on Spotify but you love listening to music….DO it now! It’s free and soooo easy!
